Stages of Literacy Development in Kinder

During the Kindergarten years literacy begins to develop very rapidly. Students in Kindergarten are regularly attending traditional school and for this reason, their literacy skills receive more attention. Most kindergartners are close to readiness if not already ready to become an efficient reader. During this phase, students typically use a combination of their reading skills, their memory of the story and the pictures and sometimes outside support from an adult helper (source).
